It is wonderful to have made this connection and what a privilege in life to be able to gather friends and family for your mom's 100th birthday. Truly a remarkable milestone and from the information I have gathered so far, an incredible person and life to be celebrated. My goals are to capture the spirit of Doris and the legacy that follows in this unique opportunity to have so many important people in one place. I want to offer my experiences and guidance to your vision for photography, and continue to collaborate creatively with the great team you assemble.

Action

We'll start with always working. Constantly reading the room and thinking through the moment or steps ahead. Being conscious of what is happening, and how my presence impacts that environment while still being able to capture it. Understanding when to step back and let the feelings breath, and when to step in and guide the photography. Everyone has different levels of confidence in front of the camera, but I love to learn your playful side and discover the authentic version of you.

method

Being comfortable in your moments and the decisions that got you there. I focus on being your photographic guide through planning and an emotional constant day of, blending in and out to let you live in your day. Treating all parties with equity as we weave through events is the groundwork of a candidly told experience that you will continue to revisit. It is an honor to share these incredibly personal days as a matter of professional routine.

AND ALLOW YOU TO RELIVE YOUR BIG DAY OVER AND OVER AGAIN."

This base collection would provide photography coverage for your primary event on October 3rd. Air travel is included in this proposal, however requesting accommodations at the vendor property to be arranged separately. I would love to produce an album based on the pictures provided to the Birch team, allowing space for guests to leave personalized notes throughout the pages.  Additionally a follow up album from the events to compliment the guest book we created.

Setting the Scene

About Kent

On a personal note, I'm married to my High School Sweetheart, and at this point we have spent over half our lives together, which is a fun benchmark to achieve. We have two great kids, both navigating the elementary school life of Evanston, and we keep busy with club soccer and my efforts to turn them into Midwest ski junkies. My business has afforded us the opportunity to be with them on a daily basis since their beginnings, something we would never change.

Not every career can be born from a favor, for this I am lucky. The extent of my formal training is my Dad's camera and a Photo 101 class in the twilight of university. Life brought me to Japan, and with it a new love of photography, documenting our experiences abroad through an inherently natural medium. After relocating to Chicago in 2008, at a friend's request I was photographing my first wedding, and my future couldn't have been more clear.

It has been an amazing journey to this point, working alongside so many talented professionals in landmark buildings and spaces across the country. I didn't see this coming as a kid, and that's just fine, it means I followed my instincts and talents to get here.
